Personal Profile

Born: New Year's Eve 1952

Born in London. Natural mother and father both Irish. Adoptive parents Mark and Jini Fiennes

School: Worth Abbey (Sussex) 1965-1971

University: University of Reading 1971-72 to read English Literature (not completed).

1972-78: Variety of jobs; hotels; farming; shops.

1978-88: Archaeology; worked all over Britain on sites too numerous to list. Employers: Wessex Archaeological Trust, Bath Archaeological Trust, Trent and Peak, Northampton CCC, SDDC, Essex CCC etc.

1988-91: University of Wales College, Cardiff. Degree in Archaeology and Anglo-Saxon Literature.

1991-98: AC Archaeology, Molas, National Museums and Galleries on Merseyside, Chester City Council Archaeological Service.

1995-present: Director of Poulton Research Project.
